DeckTite brand Stainless Steel deck screws offer the
highest corrosion resistance, better holding power, and no
cam-outs or stripping when installing. Unlike square drive
fasteners, the star or Torx drive recess holds the insert bit
more securely when applying torque.
Ideal for
Pressure-treated lumber and decking, Cedar, Redwood, composite
decking and a variety of other wood-to-wood applications.
Similar type
square drive screws do not compare in performance to the star
recess of DeckTite screws. The square drive recess tapers into
the screw head which causes cam-out or stripping when driving
into dense materials. The star drive (Torx) recess goes straight
into the screw head at 90 degrees preventing any slipping or
cam-out when driving into dense materials.
DeckTite screws
feature a self-tapping type 17 point for effortless entry into
most materials. Wide coarse threads are designed to bite
into wood for maximum holding power. DeckTite screws are
also available in long lengths such as 3 inch, 3-1/2 inch, and 4
inch lengths.
316 Grade
Stainless Steel offers the highest corrosion resistance
available for construction fasteners. It is usually
regarded as the standard "marine grade stainless steel."
305 Grade
Stainless Steel is similar to 304, but with a higher Nickel
and Chromium content. It also offers more corrosion resistance
than Type 304.
304 Grade
Stainless Steel is the standard "18-8" and is the most
versatile and widely used stainless steel.
302 Grade
Stainless Steel is not recommended for construction
fasteners where corrosion resistance is required. This alloy
contains a higher Carbon Steel content and is magnetic.
This grade is commonly used for ball bearings, lashing wire, and
industrial uses.
Stainless
Steel alloys such as 410, 416, and 440 should never be
used for exterior fastening applications when corrosion
resistance is required.
